Tuesday delight at the seaside.

The day saw Percy Toplis deliver what is becoming his trademark late challenge to move from the back of the field to a closing 3rd and going down by a head and a short head to complete another exciting trip to the seaside. Eoin Walsh was very happy with Percy reporting that it took a bit of effort to get Percy racing but from 3F out both horse and jockey connected to make their serious effort for the line. Christine is looking to step Percy up to a mile and a half for his next run. Forgotten Girl made her […]

Percy getting closer.

Thursday at Yarmouth proved to be a frustrating day for the stable – with the four entered runners being reduced to a single participant after Moment of Peace, Penarth Pier and Secret Treaties were all non runners from the card which left Percy Toplis to carry Christines pink colours in a 1m 2F handicap. After finishing 3rd in his last two races, Percy went off as one of the favoured horses at 7-1. Eion Walsh had Percy nicely placed in mid field until the 3f post when his effort was asked for, struggling to find room it did take a […]

Two thirds at Chelmsford.

A busy Saturday for the stable as four runners were sent to Essex for The Gentlemens Day at the county showground near Chelmsford and with Liam Keniry booked for all four rides, hopes were high that a positive day lay ahead, Queen of Burgundy (QB) was first into action and went off a 7/1 third favourite in a 6F race. Tracking the leaders throughout she was nicely placed to make her challenge entering the home straight but despite passing the leaders, she was unable to hold off the fast finishing Swiss Pride and eventual winner Thegreatestshowman. Another good performance from […]

So how are we doing?

Last Tuesday saw our last runner for the month of July, Agent of Fortune finish 3rd in a 1 mile Handicap race at Yarmouth. This brought to an end a busy month for the stable which had sent out 16 runners and although without a winner this month, four 2nd place and two 3rd place finishes had seen some exciting days at the races. Pride of place for July would go to Hidden Dream who went close(2nd twice ) at Yarmouth along with Secret Treaties who stepped forward to post a career best performance on 25th July, when finishing 2nd […]

Would History Repeat Itself?

This update complied by two of my owners – Trevor Milner and Andy Machin. Back in March 2005 we enjoyed a treble at Yarmouth. Kennington, Milady’s Pride and Shifty Night all passing the post first on that memorable day. On Thursday of this week we went to Yarmouth again with representatives in three races. Kraka in the first, Hidden Dream and Percy Toplis in the third and Secret Treaties in the last. Would history be repeated and another treble be on the cards? Alas not as Kraka was sixth in the opener. He held a good, prominent position the most […]

RACING WEEK 28

RACING WEEK 28 This update kindly written by one of my owners – Paul Eggett. A much quieter week as College Farm sent three3 horses to Yarmouth on Wednesday, this being the only meeting of the week. Percy Toplis (Percy) was in a class 6 Handicap over 1m and like his previous run at Chelmsford was slowly away. Unlike his last run however he was unable to get on terms throughout the race and finished 5th crossing the line. The last race of the day saw Shyarch (Archi )and Agent of Fortune (AoF) entered for a class 6 handicap over […]

Racing Week 27

RACING WEEK 27 Thus update kindly written by one of my owners – Paul Eggett. The week’s runners were seen at three meetings as the stable looked for results to keep the statistics ahead of last year’s figures. July 2018 was the busiest month of the year and offered up two winners and four places in all, so the pressure is on during the corresponding month this year. On Thursday, Yarmouth saw both Agent of Fortune (AoF) and Penarth Pier line up in a class 6 handicap over seven furlongs. AoF has yet to find the form of last year […]

April update (sorry missed the March one) .

Where have all the April Showers gone? Time is flying by. I don’t think we have been so busy or excited about a season as we are currently here at College Farm. Horses are running well, despite only one winner on the score board at the moment, from 23 runs to date, 1 winner and 9 in the frame  I am calling that a promising start to the year. Our first 2 turf runners hit the grass at the Craven Meeting in Newmarket. 3yo’s Secret Treaties and Queen of Burgundy.  Both ran very respectable in good company.  We are all […]

2019 Off and Running

Well 2019 has started off with mixed reviews, sad to lose our old favourite Warden Warren but plenty to look forward to for the New Year ahead. With the help of some of my very dear loyal owners, they have got this web site rejuvenated and up and running for exciting things to come. Grateful thanks to them, and I am sure they will keep me on my toes to keep everyone informed what is going on!!! Just because there has been no news on here doesn’t mean nothing has been happening! Far from it. You have all read the […]

Warden Warren Tribute

Happy New Year to everyone.  This should be the first of many blogs as I am being given plenty of nudges to keep this up! First of all I am going to start the New Year with a tribute to my wonderful old boy WARDEN WARREN.  We bought Warren as a 2yo at the very start of my training career, in fact my first purchase as a trainer.     Warren had won 2 races before we bought him but had the reputation of a “very quirky” individual, just the sort I was looking for to start my career!  He certainly was […]
