ups and downs

Well, no sad news to report this time, thank goodness.  The last of our 6 mares finally foaled on Saturday evening, midnight.  A lovely healthy filly bringing our total to 3 girls and 2 boys.  Coconut Shy has now been brought in to the maternity block and looking forward to her new arrival shortly.  The weather has been so lovely they have all been enjoying the sunshine and warmth (mind you it has turned a tad chilly today). After fun and games at Chelmsford City last week, if you happened to see on ATR, the following day we were rewarded […]

Sad update

Just when everything looked like it was going so well there is always something to bring us down.  Sadly after a lengthy battle to save her in the early hours of Monday morning we lost our dear mare Dolly (Southwark Newsflash) and her colt foal by Sir Prancelot after serious complications.   I am sorry to have to post such a sad blog.   It was a sad end and despite all our efforts and that of a top veterinary surgeon from the Newmarket Equine Hospital we were unable to save them.  RIP dear Dolly.  She had always been a […]

Boing Boing

Such a nice day today. So opportunity for our latest arrival – Barathea Dancer’s colt by Zebedee – to have a little time out in the sun with his mum. He is quite a big boy already and a handsome chap as you can see. Forgive me the unoriginal post title. Who remembers the Magic Roundabout? Usually ended with something like: “Boing” said Zebedee. Time for bed. Zebedee being the spring-like character, hence “boing”. Anyway. Enough of that. Here’s mum and son in the paddock.

Foals Are Arriving!

About eighteen months ago I “gently persuaded” Ollie and some of my owners to put together a breeding syndicate. Between us we had six fillies which were retired from racing for various reasons and our syndicate was born. Four mares went to Tally Ho stud in Ireland to meet their boyfriends and two stayed here to meet their men. All six became pregnant. And now the foals are starting to arrive. At time of writing, we have four of the six: Barathea Dancer has given us a colt by Zebedee Lifes A Whirl has given us a filly by Society […]

Another good week !

After almost forgetting to mention my boy Ziggy, he duly obliged with a nice win under a great ride from Adam Kirby at Wolves on Thursday.    Well done team.   The week has been ok with another good run from our P Pete to finish 2nd again at Chelmsford, his turn to win cannot be far away and the trip down to Kempton after with Danzoe was almost a success, slight “error” by the young joc on board which meant we lost 3rd place, but up to that point he had given Dan a good ride.  For the lads […]

E & OE

E & OE reminds me of my secretarial days at the Midland Bank!! (many many moons ago) Thanks Mr B for pointing out a couple  omissions from last post. Firstly how could I not mention my 3rd runner this week, Give us a Belle on Thursday back at his favourite hunting ground Wolverhampton.  He has not run a bad race this year, 6 runs so far in 2015 and 4 times in the frame, fingers crossed Mr Kirby can get his head over the line first on Thursday.  Adam K steered him to his last victory back in November and […]

Well Done Humour

Good to get another win under our belt.  A great ride by Adam Kirby to get Humours head in front .  He has certainly been running well having been in the frame 4 times including this win from only 6 starts for us.  He is a horse who I am sure has lots of improvement still to come.  He doesn’t look like my typical sprinter  type but clearly has the speed.  I would certainly not discount he could win over a longer trip but for now we are just delighted he has broken his duck and so pleased for the […]

Off the mark at last !

Well a lot has happened since my last post…… Our first winner of the year and our first foal, on the same day! So pleased our Desmond (Happydoingnothing) finally got his head in front.  A great ride from Adam Beschizza and for once everything went according to plan, he was able to dominate and he won well.  Thank goodness, our first for Mr West in his colours, and I am sure our first of many to come!.   So very nearly 2 in a week with Perseverant Pete running a blinder at Chelmsford City finishing 2nd!.  It was the first […]

I Am Back!

Well once again a few technical issues, now sorted I hope. Lots been going on since my last post, however, sadly no winners and I really had hoped I could have updated with a few of those.    The horses have all been running well and I have to say I am hoping this week will see us off the mark.  Dolly is running Tuesday and I think this really should be her day, she is in great form and seems to enjoy the Southwell surface.  Providing she can get a good start and there are no issues with removing […]

2015 Update

A very Belated Happy New Year. Already we are racing through the year (sorry for the pun!) A New Year, A New Computer, no excuses!!! To sum up 2014, some highlights, some disappointments, but all in all “most” of the horses ran ok without maybe winning. This year to date we have had 13 runs, resulting in 4 2nd places and a 3rd plus a couple of very unlucky runs! At least they are running well, one or two “issues” with jocs, so nearly could have had 4+ winners already this year which would have been an amazing start! I […]
