Last Saturday saw one of the busiest visits to a Tattersalls sales day that can be remembered, as by close of business Christine was returning to College Farm with no less than 6 yearlings from the Book 4 catalogue.
Quick off the mark was Paul Eggett, who liked the fourth lot of the morning and snapped up a big Chestnut Colt by Helmet out of winning mare Shamara. With a full brother already being a multiple winner and currently rated in the 90’s as a 4 year old, we are hoping that a shrewd piece of business was concluded by close of the sale.
Next up Christine had caught the eye of the auctioneer as she secured a Bay Colt by Swiss Spirit out of winning mare Cultured Pride. So with two new purchases secured, the call was made to Norfolk and another horse box was en route to Newmarket.
With reinforcements on the way it was the turn of Andy Machin, who had found, as no surprise, a bay filly by Estidhkaar out of the mare Enterprising. With consignor being Orchard Close Stud being the breeder more was to come later in the day.
Fourth on the list came Eammon Sparkes who bid for a bay colt by Bobby’s Kitten out of the mare Maringay’s Magic. This colt looked particularly nice and this looked like the day was complete.
Not quite……Christine had struck further private deals and secured two more yearlings to bring the total for the day up to 6 new recruits.
Another Estidhkaar Bay Colt out of winning mare Hot Property and finally a Bay Filly by Epaulette out of the mare No Nightmare.
So a long day for Christine, her staff and the owners on the day, came to an end – all eyes now have turned to Yarmouth for Tuesday afternoon (22nd) where Hidden Dream,Percy Toplis, Drop Kick Murphi, Kraka and Agent of Fortune will fly the stable flag in the last 3 races of the day that include, the Peter Dunnett 21st Memorial Race that was won in fantastic style by AoF last year.
Fingers crossed for more of the same.
