Well once again a few technical issues, now sorted I hope.
Lots been going on since my last post, however, sadly no winners and I really had hoped I could have updated with a few of those. The horses have all been running well and I have to say I am hoping this week will see us off the mark. Dolly is running Tuesday and I think this really should be her day, she is in great form and seems to enjoy the Southwell surface. Providing she can get a good start and there are no issues with removing her blindfold at the right time she will take all the beating in my opinion. Dan the Man, ooohhh Chelmsford City here we come again… I feel I have to take advantage of his drop in handicap mark. Looking at the entries he will be the one to beat providing he has a “going” head on him. Should we crack this one he will have won on every all weather track in the country!! Fingers crossed!!
The broodmares are all getting close and this wonderful spring weather will surely help them along. At the moment it looks like a Dick Turpin could be first on the scene from Mystical Witch, followed closely by a Zebedee from Barathea Dancer. That’s my prediction but could well be wrong!! They are all due together and they are all now showing signs of getting close and with 4 of them maidens there is no telling. Hopefully they will all follow the text book and do everything in the right order!! However, they will come when they are ready. I am so glad I have Terry driving to the races , not a great deal of sleep at night at the moment. I have to say I am not a lot of company in the horsebox!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
The 2yos continue to make good progress, Marcmywords has had his little op and should be back in work this week. “Graham” looks like he should be our first 2yo runner and for the first time in a few years I am hoping to have an early 2yo runner, with the turf season only a couple of weeks away, hopefully he wont be too far away from an early debut.
Probably our biggest disappointment runner wise this week was Eddie (Emmessess). I couldn’t be sure he would take to the surface at Southwell but thought it was worth a try. He didn’t seem to actually mind the surface and travelled for about 1f!!. However, I do not think he has the right attitude to take to the racing game and may be destined for a change of career. The lads here have popped him over some poles and even our hurdles and he seems to quiet enjoy that so maybe some recreational showjumping may be his forte??
This week looks like being pretty hectic, Southwell Tuesday, schooling our hurdlers in Newmarket Wednesday, Chelmsford City Thursday and its looking like Wolverhampton Friday with our Des (Happydoingnothing) Surely his win is just waiting to happen!!!
Next Saturday is also going to be busy and exciting. My daughter Amy is at long last opening her Doggy Daycare centre and holding a Fun Dog Show from 11am till 3pm. If you fancy a day out with your dog please come along. It has been a long struggle and quite a battle clearing the woodland with the ground being so wet but it is now coming together and all fenced in with a wonderful purpose built log cabin. It is an exciting new project and she has already received so much interest. Her web site is www.dogtalesdaycare.co.uk
All in all what a week we could be having!! last week ended fantastic when my other daughter Rachel and her partner Neil announced their engagement!! wow about time and so pleased for them. This week will hopefully bring a winner or 2 (or 3), maybe a foal or 2 and the opening of an exciting new business venture. And of course it is Cheltenham week and it certainly looks like being a great festival this year, must remember to set the video !!
Here’s looking forward to the week ahead and enjoying this wonderful weather!!
