2019 Off and Running

Well 2019 has started off with mixed reviews, sad to lose our old favourite Warden Warren but plenty to look forward to for the New Year ahead.

With the help of some of my very dear loyal owners, they have got this web site rejuvenated and up and running for exciting things to come. Grateful thanks to them, and I am sure they will keep me on my toes to keep everyone informed what is going on!!! Just because there has been no news on here doesn’t mean nothing has been happening! Far from it. You have all read the review of 2018, all in all a pretty good year. 2018 also saw the addition of a new(er) horsebox, gallop and paddock refurb with new lights in all stable blocks on the agenda this month.

Foaling will shortly be under way on the stud side,7 mares to foal to some exciting stallions, Brazen Beau, Garswood, Mayson, Gregorian, Bobbys Kitten, Outstrip and Charming Thought. First mare due early Feb so looking forward to welcoming some new additions soon.

Right, on to the racehorses…. We decided to give everything a bit of a break prior to Christmas, we were hit by a low grade virus infection, nothing too serious that could not be sorted with a bit of a break. So we are now back in action with a vengeance!!

I was disappointed we did not get more of a last years 2yos on the track, Secret Treaties was our only 2 yo runner, who ran very respectable but it was decided to give her a bit more time to mature, The other 2yos I had hoped to make their debut include Mazmerize, a very handsome big strong gelding by Mazameer out of our mare Patience, should not be long before he can make his debut. Another is a super little “feisty” filly Forgotten Girl by Sir Prancelot out of College Doll, small but has a big heart so hopefully she will prove worth the wait this year. Another of our now 3yo’s who is looking quite exciting is an unnamed gelding by Mazameer out of Flaming Telepath, although his dam proved disappointing/unlucky on the track herself, he is from a good family and I am starting to get a little excited about him! (he is available for sale/free lease) Another couple of our youngsters, 2 nice looking fillies, needed a bit of time to mature but are just starting to shape up.

To add to our unraced 3yo’s this year we do have some exciting 2yo’s to look forward to. Early sorts look to be Kates Star, a filly by Casamento, sharp strong individual. Cuban, an October yearling purchase by Havana Gold and Last Days of May, another October yearling purchase, a super little filly by Outstrip (and she is a grey which is always nice to have). These are all now cantering away nicely.

I am in no doubt our stars of 2018 will continue to shine through the year, namely, Agent of Fortune, Hidden Dream, Kraka, Drop Kick Murphi and Percy Toplis. Another who really should have won more is Shyarch, so unlucky on more than one occasion! Another new addition to the yard is a filly by Lethal Force, Queen of Burgundy, now a 3yo and had a couple of runs as a 2yo last year. Looks a lovely individual and I’m really looking forward to seeing how she can perform on the track this year. I have another couple of “unexpected stars of the show” , well more like hopefuls if things go ok! Fata Morgana and Jonathans Girl. Both have proved “tricky customers” The Jury is still out on them, along with Patienceisavirtue! I am known to like a challenge and these three alone are certainly that !

Should have our first runners of 2019 this week, Shyarch should be at Chelmsford this Thursday, Hidden Dream looks on target for next Saturday at Lingfield.

If you have got to this point and still reading, well done !

Until the next time…………..
